Sierra Nevada Fire Chaplains

Mission
To minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of fire service members and their families.

Vision
To establish a fire service chaplain team in the Northern Nevada/Eastern Sierra region. Individual team members will be responsible to their primary member agencies and follow all policies and procedures established by such. The team may also provide assistance to non-member fire service agencies, as well as non-fire service agencies, if requested. The team will train together, respond together and support one another as needed. The team will adhere to the International Fellowship of Chaplains Licensing, Ordination and training standards.

Guiding Principles
To serve with compassion and kindness - regardless of religion, race, sex (or sexual orientation), age, or economic status; treating others the way we would want to be treated.

To serve with humility - putting the needs of others ahead of our own.

To serve with professionalism - recognizing we represent the fire service and our individual member agencies.

To serve with integrity - keeping in mind we must be consistent in our behavior at all times, or risk damaging our credibility.

To serve with confidentiality - because of the nature of information received in personal counseling and through reports or observations, the chaplain shall maintain strict confidentiality unless obligated as a mandated reporter.
